Everyone Needs a Good Cry

It's true. Crying is really good for you says some really smart professor of some kind that I made up for this blog.

No, but really, sometimes you just gotta let it out.

I was inspired recently to comprise a list of my "go to" crying movies, and here we go...

CAUTION : THERE ARE SOME SPOILERS THROUGHOUT THIS BLOG

These are things that make me cry no matter how many times I see them:

-Deep Impact

It's a movie about a meteor flying towards earth and life as we know it will end in a mtter of days. Elijah Wood pre-hobbit life stars in this tear jerker of a film.

The movie as a whole is "ok", but it does pack a punch with it's cast of A-listers. i.e. Morgan Freeman, Tea Leoni, Elijah Wood, Leelee Sobieski, Robert Duvall, James Cromwell, Blair Underwood, and a few others.

The crying starts basically when the scientists that have flown off to stop the meteor realize that they will be sacrificing themselves for the good of earth, but a few moments that make the tears fall a little faster include when the spaceman who was blinded by the original mission they were sent up to do, has to say a tearful farewell to his wife and newborn since his departure. One moment that always gets my goat is when Elijah comes to take LeeLee to the bomb shelter on his moped and her mom then passes the baby off onto Leelee. As Leelee goes hysterical so do I.

-Buffy The Vampire Slayer - CHOSEN

I have watched the final episode of Buffy 6 times and it never fails. Given I have shed less and less tears everytime that I have watched it, but in all fairness I believe that cried for the entire 45 minutes the first time I watched it.

The part that does always seem to tug on the heart strings is when Buffy feeds Spike a tearful "I love you" and he hands it right on back to her. Oh my strong little peroxide Brit.

-Angel - A HOLE IN THE WORLD

I have only seent his episode twice, but have cried like a baby both times. Just when everything is set right, and Fred and Wesley are finally together(in which I believe they should have since Fred was brought back to the earth in season 3. Thanks alot, Joss Whedon)Fred just has to go and die in Wesley's arms just to come back as an old god named Illyria in a Fred shell. Sad.

I will give props where props are desevred. Even though I missed Fred and really wanted her and Wesley together forever, Amy Acker did such a kick ass job portraying this crazy different character.

-The Office - CASINO NIGHT

Jim and his tearful "I'm in love with you" paired with Pam's confused "I can't"

Rejected

-Beaches

Don't judge me. That shit is sad.

the beaches movie bette midler

-Sex and the City - MY MOTHERBOARD, MY SELF

Miranda rushes to PA to be by her mother's side as she passes away. When the girls come out to the funeral, the biggest concern of Miranda's family is that she will be following the casket alone. As they are following the casket out of the church, after the ceremony, Miranda begins to break down. Seeing this Carrie quickly steps in and grabs Miranda's hand and then walks down the aisle with her. And if that's not enough to get your tearducts pumpin', in one of the final pews sits Aiden and Steve. Swoon.

Even though it's not a movie or TV show, something else that always makes me cry no matter what is, Nate Irvin.

Anytime I see him in a play and he has anything resembling an emotional solo I am going to cry.

The Competitor

I was thinking in my Anthropology class on Monday night.

I wasn't thinking about Anthropology like I should have been. I was thinking about dating and the kind of people that I would be inerested in dating.

Yes, this topic began with thoughts of how dreamy my professor, Silas, is.

So, as I was drifting into Silas and my future in my imagination, I realized that I probably wouldn't ever actually be with him. No, not because he is my teacher, married and/or has 3 kids, but because he's knows what a crappy paper writer I am.

The same reason I could never date my dentist because he know what a crappy flosser I am.

The moral of the story is that I don't think I could ever date someone who ever has to grade, judge or direct me.

It would make me uncomfortable.

Monday, March 10th

The Goods:

Today, during work, my Dad came down and turned on the Montel Williams show and insisted I watch his guests. He just so happened to be interview the people who do Paranormal State on A&E - they are kinda like Ghostbusters. It was like a whole hour of half working and now I have a new show to watch on Monday nights.
Paranormal State

The L Word Season 6! - I read on thelwordonline.com today that The L Word has been picked up for a sixth season. The sad part of it is that it will only be 8 episodes long and, much to the dislike of it's adoring fans, it will be the final season of the series. I think they will be ending on an amazing note.
l word season 5 banner
Season 4 sucked. Hard. And now they are making up for it and just having a good time.
Here is a perfect example.

I am loving this season so hard.

I am so freakin' tired today, so on my way to Anthropology class I stopped by Caribou and got my usual medium white mocha and as a special they were adding an extra espresso shot for free if you wanted. BONUS!

Speaking of Anthro class. I can't help but have a good time in that class. The teacher, Silas, is HILARIOUS! I love him. It probably doesn't hurt that he's cute too.

The best new of today though has to be that one of my favorite couples, both being very good friends of mine, are still going strong. A situation that played out at a party this weekend made me think that they may have been in danger.
As a girl who can't stand relationships and people in them, you must understand when I like a couple it is for an excellent reason.

The Gripes:

Anthro Test. Didn't study. Pullin' for a C.

After the test, Sarah and I walked to the comp lab to print off our lecture notes for when class rejoined and we got to talking about the events of the weekend and what not. We walked back to the class room and sat outside the door waiting for class to start back up and in the middle of our convo, a creepy older guy from our class walked up and said "Hi girls..." Sarah and I politely said hello back and continued on with our conversation and he just stood there...really?! A few sentances later and he realized he was not welcome and walked away. Creepo.
creepy old guy

So, I took a trip back to high school tonight and got caught writing notes in class. Sarah got a new car...it was exciting. Sorry Silas.
